Ten years as a Woman Owned Small Business

RGH was invited to present our success story as a woman owned small consulting business to over 90 small businesses at the a Vendor Outreach session  held today at the National Press Building in Washington, DC. The event was hosted by USAID’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU).

The presentation, delivered by President and CEO of RGH, Dr. Elvira Beracochea, was well received and described as inspiring and practical by attendees.

In her presentation, she shared the three lessons she learned over the years of owning a small business:

  1. Message – make your message clear and focus your message on why you are doing what you are doing
  2. Marketing – Spend 30-50% of your time marketing through a variety of outlets to get your message out and reach your ideal clients
  3. Systems – Create systems and operations manuals to organize the day to day responsibilities so that you can focus on your mission. Establish metrics to measure your progress so that you can make informed decisions and not rely on opinions.

RGH continues to apply these lesson is its own operations as well as in the trainings and services it provides to clients.
