This week Dr. Elvira will speak with Dr. Yair Rajwan, the Executive Director of Visual Science Informatics to discuss, among other things, the process of “Visual Storytelling” to improve engagement for better outcomes. Dr. Yair Rajwan’s work attempts to help others make sense of complex information that enhances informed decision making using the proven Visual Communication & Evaluation Methodology (VCEM) which enables better understanding of content using the insightful Content Messaging Outcome Analysis (CMOA) solution.
Dr. Rajwan was a postdoctoral research Fellow of the National Library of Medicine (2011) in the Division of Health Sciences Informatics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He received his MSc (1995) and DSc (2000) in computer science from the George Washington University School of Engineering and Applied Science in Washington, DC. He received his MSc (2012) in Health Sciences Informatics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Rajwan served as a Visual Communication Fellow Specialist at JHU for the National Library of Medicine (NLM). His work focuses on using visualization to communicate complex medical and health information and using visual communication increasing patient engagement, enhancing shared decision making, and improving collaboration with clinicians and care providers. He also works on visual analytics and health sciences informatics for ‘Big Data’ analytics. His work has been published and presented at conferences and speaking engagements focusing on information visualization, influence and persuasive communication, and better decision making and engagement.
