This week, Dr. Elvira will speak with Todd Cavalier, the Executive Director of Informatics Studio to talk about his work in designing communication, evaluation, and traning systems that support target audiences in accessing, understanding and engaging with critical information.
Todd Cavalier holds an MFA in communications design from Rhode Island School of Design where he was a RISD Presidents Fellow in Graphic Design. He was a Professor of design and communication theory, and held several research fellowships at Carnegie Mellon University prior to starting Informatics Studio in 1992, an interdisciplinary design and strategic communications firm with national and international clients based in Pittsburgh with a strong presence in Washington DC.

Todd served as Design Program Specialist for the US Information Agency in their Eastern European Program. His design of user interfaces for statistical software tools for visualizing American census data were sponsored by the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) and Sun Microsystems, and are included in the permanent Research and Technology Collection at the Smithsonian. His work has been published and presented internationally at conferences and speaking engagements focusing on design, technology and social marketing.
