Another World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day Another World AIDS Day this week. What to do about this pandemic that has not been done before and that will help our world get closer to an AIDS free world?

This question can be rephrased for malaria, TB and all the conditions that prevent human beings from enjoying a healthy life despite the existence of effective diagnostics and treatments. Yes, you guessed it. I am frustrated by so much loss of human lives. As a doctor, I am frustrated by having the knowledge to save lives and not being able to do it. As a human rights advocate, I am frustrated that human rights are not the foremost issue in the international development field. The right to health of everyone matters, wherever you are born or live, whether you are a resident or a refugee. Every life matters.

Let’s renew our commitment to SDG3 and to figure out ways to work in a coordinated manner and organize better global health programs that allow countries to develop their health systems. Developing the health system of every country to deliver child health, maternal health and prevent and treat diseases such as AIDS is possible. We know how. Let’s get it done.

What are you doing in your country to help develop the health system and fulfill the right to health of everyone? I am doing all I can.

Have a successful World AIDS Day.
