Program Overview:
Have you ever wondered how human rights can help you be a better global health professional or deliver better health services? Probably no. If you have or haven’t, this program will answer this question and many more about what human rights and how to use them to improve the health of those whose rights are not being fulfilled. By using Rights-based Approaches (RBAs) you can improve access to health services and the quality and coverage of the services you provide.
Who benefits
Many global health practitioners and students struggle with the true meaning and practical application of human rights in their work. If you are not familiar with the legal basis of the right to health and how you can use RBAs to improve how your program or facility works, this program is for you.
What you will learn
This program explains what the right to health is, what the legal basis that supports this right is, and what approaches you can use to reach those minorities or vulnerable groups in your community that need better health. The program also presents examples of health programs utilizing rights-based approaches to improving health services. Drawing from Dr Elvira Beracochea’s book “Rights-Based Approaches to Public Health” and her own international experience, the program helps participants understand and use rights-based approaches in their own careers and jobs.
The program includes a number of the tools and domestic and international case studies that demonstrate how global and public health professionals can help to fulfill the right to health of every citizen. This program will help you use of the principles of right-based approaches and ensure there is non-discrimination, and every patient’s dignity and rights are respected. The program also will show you how to contribute to monitor and protect human rights as defined in international human rights documents addressing children’s rights, women’s rights, environmental issues such as the right to healthy food, air, and water. You will develop a practical application of the right to health to those you serve in your community program, organization or area of influence. Below is a summary of the program content:

How the program works:
A week is the perfect unit of time to include a Rights-based Approach (RBA) in your program, project, organization or health facility. RBAs will help you provides quality health care to all. In this program, you will learn how to work differently and manage project, facility or organization different to achieve your monthly health service targets. Every day you will receive a lesson by email and an assignment for you to apply what you learned. You read the lesson, think about it, and do something with what you just learned. After completing your daily assignment, you will send it back to your personal coach for feedback. Every week, there will be a lesson and discussion with Dr Elvira on Zoom so you can ask all your questions and share with other students. Zoom lessons are recorded so you can listen to them again.
You will receive a certificate after you complete all assignments including an “RBA Success Plan”. In just 7 Days this program will help you ensure you provide quality healthcare to all in your community. You will get free weekly coaching for three months to implement your “RBA Success Plan” and advance your career as recognized efficient RBA public health or facility manager!
